The new wide and flat intercell cooling tubes from Erbslöh Aluminium have been specially developed for use between prismatic cells and in blade batteries. This pioneering technology is based on the reliable extrusion of innovative aluminium profiles equipped with ultra-thin channels for guiding coolants (multi-channel flat tubes). By using high-performance silicones from Wevo, it’s possible to realise a number of layouts designed to meet the demands of high-end electric vehicles.
LAYOUT 1: SILICONE BETWEEN PARALLEL COOLING TUBES FOR THE PRISMATIC CELLS
Wevo’s silicone absorbs the swelling of the cells in the various phases of charging and discharging and dampens it efficiently. At the same time, the optimal mechanical properties and excellent high-temperature resistance of the material ensure an efficient cell-to-cell barrier in the event of thermal runaway – and greater safety for rapid-charging, high-performance batteries fitted in premium electric cars.

LAYOUT 2: SILICONE BETWEEN THE COOLING TUBE AND PRISMATIC CELLS
In addition to its damping function during charging and the delivery of stored energy, Wevo’s silicone creates a good thermal connection between the cells and the cooling tubes thanks to its optimal thermal conductivity. This enables optimum heat dissipation and supports efficient battery thermal management.
With this combination of innovative aluminium design and silicones selected for optimum performance, the collaboration between Erbslöh Aluminium and Wevo opens up new possibilities in the field of battery cooling for high-performance EVs.
